Waymaker on the Colorado Trail - Day 0

Castle Rock, Colorado
I arrived in Colorado yesterday afternoon and was picked up at the Denver Airport by my old Appalachian Trail hiking buddy Micah (trail name Anvil). He’s putting me up for a couple of days to acclimate to the altitude.
Today I tested out my tolerance for the 6000 - 7000 ft range by hiking 5 miles up to the rock formation that the town is named after and back. Although the climbing itself was a bit strenuous, I didn’t have any difficulty breathing. So far so good. I’m really looking forward to what God has in store for me in the next several weeks.
I will start my actual hike tomorrow with Micah dropping me off at Waterton Canyon, the northern terminus of the Colorado trail. He plans on meeting up with me on and off to hike with me some and provide logistics for the early part of the trail ( additional supplies, food, etc). Later in the hike he plans to meet me for an extended stretch in the San Juan mountains. More to follow as I have cell coverage and can post my progress.
If you are supporting CCB Africa missions through pledges, the total amount hiked is 0.0 miles so far😄.
Until next time.
Blessings!
