Waymaker on the Colorado Trail - Day 13
Tuesday, August 5, 2025Mile 190.0 - Segments 11/12
Isaiah 25 - 26
Well, I made the decision to head east on the Collegiates, instead of my original plan to take the west route. For may reasons, this is the more prudent path. Mileage is similar but slightly least vertical ascent. At this point, reducing the amount of climbing makes a lot of sense to me. If you are following on the map, it’s the section I had x’ed out.
After the passing Twin Lakes, I turned east at the trail fork and immediately started climbing again. The trail meandered up and down, but no steep inclines, so I was able to make good time. The scenery continues to change as I go from one section to another.
I did want to mention one sight that has been a positive encounter whenever I run across one. That would be a pit toilet, often found at road crossings and trail heads. When in the woods for days on end, it’s nice to run into a touch of civilization where it happens. Life’s small conveniences.
Until next time…
