Waymaker on the Colorado Trail - Day 14
Wednesday August 6, 2025
Mile 204.6 - section 12
Isaiah 27-28
Today I hit two major milestones. I passed the 200 mile mark on the trail (less than 300 to go), and today marks two weeks on the trail (3 weeks to go)! As I reflect on what these two weeks have encompassed, I am pleased to have gotten this far. The physical aspect of this journey has been much more challenging than I expected, while my body has responded much better than I’d anticipated. I appreciate your prayers as I continue on.
Today was much warmer than it has been, pushing 80 mid-day. The heat necessitates more water consumption, which in turn means more stops to filter water. Today’s hike was about 70/30 downhills to uphill, but the uphills were very steep. I was fortunate to get as far as I did today, but tomorrow will likely be a short mileage day. My day starts with a 4 mile climb that increases 2500 ft over that distance. That’s climbing 625 ft up for every mile. Or like climbing 250 flights of stairs. It’s gonna take me a while.
On Friday, I head into Buena Vista in the morning, where Paul Johnson’s parents Doug and Phyllis will pick me up. They will provide me with a shower (long overdue), laundry (same), and a trip to the grocery for a resupply. I’ll return to the trail that afternoon refreshed and ready to continue on. I’m really looking forward to it.
Until next time…

Very nice Mike, keep up the pace, be blessed brethren!
